BJ Thompson was born and raised in the inner city of Dallas, Texas and accepted Christ at the age of 19. He attended the University of North Texas earning a B.S. in Sociology. During college he was very active volunteering as an assistant Chaplin in a juvenile center and a ministry to the campus where he also met his beautiful wife, Vanja.
After college, he and his family moved to Memphis to work for a start up non-profit called Reach Life as the Outreach Coordinator. During his time with Reach Life he partnered with several churches, ministries, and schools to invest in young men and to help train pastors and leaders all across the nation on what it means to do effective ministry. God has blessed him with opportunities to travel all over the world preaching the gospel.
During his time in Memphs, BJ began to be burdened to see men be raised up and discipled in Christ, in order to lead their family and change their communities, with a biblical mindset. After realizing his specific call as a shepherd to the Body of Christ. BJ saw the need to be equipped and trained to one day be a pastor.
Currently BJ is excited about pursuing further education and sharing his gifts with the city of Memphis. BJ is serving Fellowship Memphis as a Resident Pastor while working towards a Master of Christian Studies degree at Union University Seminary in Germantown, TN.
