Ricky Jenkins
Ricky was born in Pearl, MS, and accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 16. He attended Mississippi College earning a BS in Political Science and a place in the MC Hall of Fame. He credits his college years as life changing times in which he accepted the call to ministry and preached several times to the Student Body leading many to Christ.
After college, Ricky continued to work in ministry with youth from his home church and community. He partnered with several parachurch and community ministries to organize a myriad of rallies, conferences, and workshops to invest in young people. God has blessed him with opportunities to travel the country preaching the Word of God.
In 2001, he answered a pastoral call to ministry and moved to Oakland, California, to serve as senior pastor of Emmanuel Church. While serving in Oakland, Ricky led the church to embrace a new paradigm of community involvement. The growing church opened its doors to community nonprofits and became a hub in its East Oakland neighborhood for outreach to the local community. Ricky began working for a social justice ministry and organized clergy to amplify the issues of the working poor. As a community organizer, he partnered with dozens of Bay Area clergy and led rallies, marches, and protests on behalf of the disenfranchised.
Excited about pursuing further education and sharing his gifts with the city of Memphis, Ricky is serving Fellowship Memphis as a Resident Pastor while working towards a Master of Divinity degree at Mid-America Seminary in Cordova, TN.
