In Matthew 8: 14-15, Jesus’s healing of Peter’s mother-in-law caused her to respond in service. This fall, a Fellowship Global team travelled to East Asia and met a sister in the Lord who responded to her healing in the same way.

Sister Lin met us at our hotel and escorted us to the house church in the middle of what I call no man’s land. She stayed up late with us that night seeing that everyone was full from dinner and as comfortable as possible, then she rose a few hours later at 4:30 am to pray for us and sing praises to God for two straight hours. She sat on the front row writing down every word that came out of our mouths for about 12 hours straight with a few breaks in which we ate and she piled food onto our plates which was her symbol of love for us. Sister Lin had three years ago been healed of “cancer in the blood,” some form of Leukemia I am guessing, and her serving is not only a miracle, but she considers the servant-mind her utmost priority. Prior to every meal she would bring a water basin and a cloth for us to wash our face and hands with warm water. After approximately 12 hours of teaching and jet lag finally setting in Sister Linda, Sara, and I were exhausted and went to lay in our beds to “take a rest,” when abruptly our door flung open and it was Sister Lin with her water basin. I asked Sara, how do you politely say no thank you in their language; as I felt to tired to sit up and Sara replied “I don’t think sister Lin understands that,” referencing no thank you. Then Sister Lin told Sara “I didn’t come for them to wash their hands and face, I came to serve them; I came to wash their feet.” As the tears welled up in my eyes Sister Lin did just that; she served just like Jesus had. I felt completely honored and again humbled, and in that moment I realized that she seen the God of the Bible. She had seen Him so much so that she wanted to emulate His very actions. She neglected her own fatigue to serve us like Christ and oh did we ever see Christ!
