Between the Advent’s
- Nov 29, 2010
The word Advent means “coming” or “arrival.” In this season we should celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ in his First Advent, but we should also celebrate with anticipation, the return of Christ in the future Second Advent. Advent is more than marking the birth of Christ 2000 years ago. It is a time to reflect with deep anticipation on His return. Advent connects the manger to the cross, to the resurrection, and to His second coming.
Advent is a season where we focus on Jesus’ birth and long for Christ’s second coming, a future fulfillment He has promised in Revelation 21:3-4 saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
As a congregation, let us worship Christ the Incarnated God, the
Sacrifice that conquered death, and the King who is coming again. Let us still our hearts asking God to sanctify us and use us to prepare the way for His Second Coming, as we live Between the Advents.
Join us as we celebrate by meditating together on the Word this season. The Advent Devotional contains a daily reading for your family for the four weeks of Advent.
