Common Ground Fall Session

  • Sep 1, 2011

What is Common Ground?

Picture a room with about 10 ordinary residents sitting in a circle. There are men and women, blacks, whites, Asians, Native Americans, Hispanics and other ethnic groups. They represent different religions, backgrounds and generations. This small group of diverse people will meet for several hours with a trained facilitator who will lead discussions on race relations. Participants will share stories about what they have experienced in their lives in the Mid-South or other communities. During their time together, participants will begin to get a glimpse of new possibilities and start to understand how a person of another race, gender or age sees the world and recognize their common ground. Common Ground Fall Session 2011 begins Monday, September 26, 2011, 6pm-8pm at Southwest Tennessee Community College - Union Avenue Campus. Please register at www.commongroundmemphis.org by September 10 to participate in this session.
