We waited. Some of us for months, some years, and others still countless years. Most times, wading through an unanswered prayer is the lowest, most discouraging valley. But God is faithful.
October of 2011 is when a group of us sat in the Connection Class, so far from community and so close to resignation. As the class came to an end, we refused to give up what would prove to be God’s compassion and mercy coming to fruition. About a dozen women agreed to meet on Sunday nights for fellowship, rotating the gatherings from home to home.
And it was about three weeks into meeting that our true hearts were revealed. As a group of young, single women in such different and yet so similar stages of life, we cried, realizing our prayers had been identical. God had brought fifteen girls together under one roof with one singular, constant prayer. Friendship. True, transparent friendship through which we could grow, love, and share life together.
By word of mouth, our group has grown over the months, sharing God’s love and blessing with other women who are searching for transparency, unconditional love, accountability, and encouragement. There are no lonely Friday nights. Instantaneous prayer is available within a solid network. Listening ears are given for the valleys in our lives, and, equally, celebrations are had for the mountains God moves.
Our timing is not God’s timing, and when in His sovereignty He moved this mountain for us, we were able to experience His love in a very clear and genuine way. Every text, every encouraging word, every hug is a reminder straight from Him that He is near and He is always listening, and that He is faithful.
We didn’t find each other. God knew our hearts, our desires, our deep prayers for fellowship and sisterhood, and He gave us to one another when He deemed it time. To share, to care, to love, we are here for each other through Him. We do not praise our group for what it is, but instead praise our God for what He gave us. For His steadfast love and sovereignty, it is to Him we give the glory. We are thankful for our answered prayer of authentic and Godly friendships that only His faithfulness could have provided.
