Constantly A Struggle, Richly Rewarding

“What am I talking about? Walking by faith. Recently I memorized Hebrews 11. Maybe if I had memorized a different passage of Scripture my life would be different right now. Combine memorizing Hebrews 11 with Bryan’s sermons these past few months, reading books about living radically for Christ, and drinking from the fountain of teachings from DownLine. The combination pushed me to take a step of faith. I went part time at my job to pursue ministry. By the end of May I will be leaving my job completely. I will be giving up security and stability. And I am trusting the Lord to provide. The struggle is - how will I pay my bills and where will I live. There is a big question mark for my future and I cannot see anything that it might hold. That is what faith is though, the assurance of things hoped for the conviction of things not seen. Trusting the Lord is not easy, it is a constant struggle. Yet I know that God rewards those who seek Him.”
It has been five months since I wrote this in my journal. The big question mark that loomed in my future has been answered. Although that has not stopped me from walking by faith. I am trusting the Lord for the crazy and at times the impossible. In August I will be leaving Memphis to travel to East Asia. I am in the midst of seeing the Lord provide the financial support I need to be able to go to East Asia. He has shown me His faithfulness.
I am so thankful for our summer series “The God of Rest”. As John Bryson says, “God is rarely early, but never late.” This is so true for me right now as I have one week before I leave, and I am seeing Him provide. I constantly need to hear the words “Do not fear” as I leave behind the familiar and comfortable and journey to a different culture. “Do not fear” as I take steps of faith in following Christ and living for Him. “Do not fear” as I make disciples in the persecuted church. “Do not fear” because He is faithful.
Do not fear, because the Lord is delighted when we put our trust in Him and start walking by faith. All things are in His hands.
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
