Kicking Off Kingsbury

“We have other school sponsors who spend a lot of money to provide a lot of resources for their school, but what you guys do, investing people’s time here is something that can never be bought.” This testimony from the Associate Superintendent for the Memphis City Schools portrays the heart of what it means to love others in our city.

Since the launch of Fellowship Memphis in 2003, we have had a heart to show the city of Memphis the love of Christ in real tangible ways. After all Jesus taught, in Matthew 5:16, that His followers should, “let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Well, over 4 years ago, God led us as a church to let Kingsbury High School see our good works in their midst.

Over these years we have invested in many different ways at Kingsbury focusing on three important groups of people: the faculty, the students, and the parents. We have given thank you notes and gift cards to every faculty member and awarded scholarships to students to encourage their academic growth. And this year, we are excited to unveil the completion of our parent resource center as our next strategic investment for Kingsbury. We believe that supporting each of these groups helps produce healthy students. But like the quote above reminds us, it is people investing their time tutoring students and adopting classrooms that makes the biggest difference.

Living out the Gospel at Kingsbury has been an exciting part of what God is doing through us as a church. Would you join our story and help us continue to make it even better?
