Responding to Adoption Month

My heart was stirred a bit deeper for adoption when I heard about Shavarius and read his story. During Fellowship Kids 4-5 year old class, we talked about him. I began asking them who has a mommy and a daddy, a home to go to, a bed to sleep in, toys to play with, etc. They all raised their hands, and I explained to them that Shavarius doesn’t have a mommy and daddy nor does he have a place to call home. So I told them we are going to start praying that the Lord will provide Shavarius a mommy and a daddy.

It was a true joy to talk with them about adoption and share with them how blessed they are to have a mommy and a daddy who love them. One little girl popped right up and said, “I will share my mommy with him.” How beautiful that is! When I asked for one of them to pray for him, everyone was raising their hands. I truly believe this sweet boy is bringing our church closer together. I cannot wait to celebrate with everyone and to see who is going to be blessed by adopting Shavarius.

Thank you for responding to 1.17’s Adoption Month efforts! In addition to advocating for Shavarius, tubs were taken with a commitment to provide Christmas gifts for 28 foster children, money was raised for 110 duffle bags for foster children, three Christmas gifts were given for DCS case workers, and sign-ups were made for every item on the “gift” list for DCS.
