1.17’s primary goal is to live out the heart of Isaiah 1:17

Learn to do good. Seek Justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless.

We exist to create opportunities where individuals and the local church in Memphis are connected, resourced, and supported as they engage international and local adoption and foster care.

We believe:

  • Scripture is clear that God’s people should take action and advocate for children who cannot speak for themselves
  • God uses His Church as the primary change agent in the lives of families and children
  • Adoption is at the heart of the gospel
  • The journey of adoption and foster care is best walked within the context of church community, training, and support

Connection opportunities:

  • Empowered To Connect Parent Training: A 9 week learning and training experience designed specifically for adoptive and foster parents
  • Adoptive/Foster Mom’s/Mom’s-to-be and Adoptive/Foster Dad’s/ Dad’s-to-be Night Out: A place to meet others who are living it out, share your journey, and receive support and encouragement once a month.
  • Family Fellowships: Gatherings of adoptive and foster families two times a year.
  • Book Club: Meetings with other moms to discuss various books on adoption and fostering topics
  • Waiting Families: Gatherings of families in the "waiting" stage of the adoption journey
  • Adoption/Foster Care 101 Conference: Coming in the spring 2012
