How are Groups put together?
We organize our small groups primarily by geography. Memphis is a large metropolitan area, and we have been blessed by God to have attracted people from all over our city. We take other factors into account in special situations but in general, we want people to connect with others who have a chance to impact their immediate community together. We desire for each of our small groups to be the church to their part of Memphis.
Of course, we would rather you be in a group that is equipping you to make disciples even if it is not right next door, than to be waiting for too long to get in a group close by. So we will consider group availability as well as we place people.
Finally, although we value generational, racial, and socioeconomic diversity in our groups, we recognize that sometimes a certain group dynamic may not work for you even if it is closer than another group.
Ultimately, however, we are trusting God to put you in the group of His choosing with people that He has chosen to shape you and be shaped by you in the body of Christ. He loves to surprise us in what and who He uses to conform us into the image of His Son.
